PKR repeats 1994 promises-Herbert

KOTA KINABALU: The promises made by Parti KeADILan Rakyat (PKR) in its Buku Jingga to deliver 10 major promises within 100 days after forming the government are mere repetitions of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s promises to the people of Sabah during the 1994 state election.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) vice-president Datuk Herbert T Lagadan when making the observation said Anwar who was the Deputy Prime Minister cum Finance Minister at the time, had given an incredible and non-achievable promise to Sabahans to fully develop the state within 100 days of forming the government.

Herbert alleged that Anwar was fully aware at the time that he could not wrestle power from Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), and hence he simply made promises to hoodwink the voters, by hook or by crook.

“Now it is the same Anwar who is making the same 100 days’ promise. By making all sorts of incredible promises, he will not lose anything nor be duty bound to fulfill his promises since he knows that the opposition cannot wrestle power from Barisan Nasional (BN),” he claimed.

According to him it was interesting to note and reminded all Sabahans that so far Anwar himself had never brought up the Royal Commission of Inquiry issue.

“I find it very surprising that Anwar chose not to bring up the RCI in his press statement recently since PKR has been very vocal about the matter,” the Kadamaian assemblyman asked.

Herbert also assured Sabah PKR chief Ahmad Thamrin Jaini that PBS has nothing to fear and would bring the RCI issue up for debate in the state assembly sitting.

PBS has done it before and will do it again soon, he said.
