Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who made this observation, said the economy of the state had not been affected too much by the economic uncertainties in other regions such as Europe.
“I think the development of SCORE is on target. Once I have packaged all the plans to build up technical workers over the next few years, we will transform our economy and become a more equitable society,” he said at the open house of Chinese community leader Datuk Sim Swee Yong on the first day of Chinese New Year.

He said Malaysia and Sarawak in particular should not be worried about the economic problems in other regions because Asia’s economy had been doing comparably well.
“Let’s make the Year of the Dragon beneficial for us. What is predictable we use it but what is unpredictable and uncertain we contain it,” he said.
“We should use whatever solidarity and unity we have to build our country.”
