KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP disciplinary committee has received a complaint letter from a branch leader against Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming over allegations that a tailoring contract was awarded to his wife's company.
Committee chairman Tan Kok Wai said an investigation would be carried out on the matter, adding that a hearing would be held on a date to be decided soon.
Blogger Ahmad Sofiyan Yahya had alleged on his Sekupang Dua site that Nga's wife was a director in the company that obtained the contract when Pakatan Rakyat was in power in 2008.
The company was said to have received the contract to make lounge suits for Ipoh city councillors despite another company having offered a lower price to deliver the job.
Nga, who is also Pantai Remis assemblyman and Taiping MP, has subsequently filed a RM10mil suit against Ahmad Sofiyan, saying that the blogger had posted articles containing defamatory remarks against him.
Meanwhile, sources said Nga was not present during a central executive committee meeting here on Tuesday.
“However, many of those on the committee had demanded for answers on the allegations. They wanted swift action to be taken against him,” one source claimed.
Another source said national vice-chairman M. Kulasegaran had raised the matter before the meeting ended.
“Someone also criticised the disciplinary committee for not taking action despite the matter having surfaced two weeks ago,” said the source.
It is understood that Nga had been referred by the CEC to the disciplinary committee.
Nga tweeted yesterday afternoon saying he would be “happy” to face the disciplinary committee.
“I cannot wait to clear my name. Will give 101% co-operation to the committee,” he said.
