KUALA LUMPUR: Two former officers of the Koperasi Pasaraya Malaysia Berhad (Kopasar) were charged in the Sessions Court with misusing the cooperative’s money and causing it to incur RM1.7mil losses three years ago.
Chairman Datuk Mohamad Wahiduddin Abdul Wahab was slapped with 10 charges while the former treasurer Jaffar Md Saib faced nine charges under Section 45 (1) and Section 46 (1) of the Cooperative Act 1993. Both claimed trial.
Wahiduddin, 68, was accused of receiving payments of allowances amounting to RM1.4mil without prior approval in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) resulting in the cooperative incurring RM497,072 losses while Jaffar, 61, was charged with receiving RM239,888 as allowances resulting in RM116,288 losses for the cooperative.
Sessions Court Judge S.M. Komathy set bail at RM30,000 for Wahiduddin and RM10,000 for Jaffar and fixed Jan 20 for mention.
