Rodziah Abdul its secretary

KUALA LUMPUR: Suhakam, the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia, has appointed Rodziah Abdul as its secretary.

With the appointment, the commission has ended its practice of enlisting a senior administrative and diplomatic officer as its secretary.

Rodziah, who took office on June 1, has been appointed for a five-year term, bringing her extensive experiences from both the corporate and public sectors.

Suhakam chairman Tan Sri Hasmy Agam said in a statement that Rodziah had previously served at, among others, the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations and the Securities Commission.

“The commission is grateful to (former secretaries) Datuk Kamaruddin Mohamed Baria, Ahmad Yusof Ngah and Hashimah Nik Jaafar for the job they have done in assisting members of the commission and staff in promoting and protecting human rights,” he said.

“The commission also wishes to express its deep gratitude to the Government for seconding the three officers since it was set up in 2000.”
